Texas Car / Permit practice question · Road Signs
What should you understand when you see a yellow diamond-shaped sign with two vertical arrows pointing opposite ways?
Answer choices
- Watch for people crossing; be ready to stop and yield.
- A traffic signal is ahead; prepare to slow or stop.
- Two-way traffic is ahead; oncoming vehicles share the road.— Correct answer
- There is a bump or raised surface in the road ahead.
Why this is the answer
This sign tells you to keep to the right-hand lane while expecting oncoming vehicles in the left-hand lane, so two-way traffic is ahead and oncoming vehicles share the road. It does not warn of a signal, a pedestrian crossing or a bump. Stay to the right and be careful about passing, since the oncoming lane is close.
