Texas Car / Permit practice question · Road Signs
A yellow pennant-shaped (sideways triangle) sign posted on the left side of the road warns that:
Answer choices
- a school zone is just ahead
- the road ahead is closed
- a weigh station is open
- you are in a no-passing zone— Correct answer
Why this is the answer
A pennant shape is used for advance warning of no-passing zones, so the sign tells you a stretch of road where passing is not allowed. School zones use a pentagon instead. Once you are in the zone, a solid yellow line on your own side marks it, and you must not cross that line to pass.
