Texas Car / Permit practice question · Traffic Laws
A left turn against a red light is permitted in Texas only when you turn:
Answer choices
- from any street, as long as no cars are coming
- from a two-way street onto a one-way street
- from a one-way street onto another one-way street, after stopping— Correct answer
- whenever there is no traffic officer present
Why this is the answer
At a steady red light you may turn left only when both streets are one way, and then only if no law or sign prohibits it. You must stop first and yield to pedestrians and other traffic using the intersection. Turning from a two-way street onto a one-way street, or from any street with no cars in sight, is not covered by this exception.
