Texas Car / Permit practice question · Right-of-Way
Several vehicles reach a four-way stop at different times. Who should go first?
Answer choices
- the driver who came to a complete stop first goes first— Correct answer
- the largest vehicle always goes first
- the driver who honks first goes first
- the vehicle turning left always goes first
Why this is the answer
At a stop where all traffic must stop, vehicles proceed in the order they arrived, so the driver who stopped first goes first. A tie goes to the vehicle on your right. Vehicle size, honking and turning left give no priority. Slowing down without coming to a complete stop is not enough at the sign.
