Texas Car / Permit practice question · Sharing the Road
Large trucks have large blind spots. A helpful rule to stay safe is:
Answer choices
- if you cannot see the truck driver's mirrors, the driver cannot see you— Correct answer
- trucks can see everything around them
- it is safe to follow closely behind a truck
- trucks can stop faster than cars
Why this is the answer
An excellent rule of thumb around tractor-trailers is that if you cannot see the truck driver in the side mirror, the driver cannot see you. Staying out of the truck's blind spots, including directly behind it, lets the driver see you and gives you a good view ahead. Following closely is unsafe.
