1. When another motorist behaves aggressively toward you, the manual says the safest response is to do what?
Correct answer: Yield and let them get past you
Set your pride aside and make every effort to move out of their way rather than speeding up or holding your lane. Avoid eye contact and do not react to their gestures.

2. Why do large vehicles usually need a larger gap than a car to cross or enter traffic?
Correct answer: Their slow acceleration and greater size demand more room
Because commercial vehicles accelerate slowly and take up more room, you need a much bigger gap than a car would. A heavier load means an even larger gap is needed.

3. On a road with two left-turn lanes, which lane should a large vehicle use to turn left?
Correct answer: The right of the two turn lanes
Take the right of the two turning lanes. Starting in the inside lane can force you to swing right to complete the turn, and drivers to your left are easier to see.

4. At a crossing with gates and flashing lights, when may you proceed?
Correct answer: Once the gates go up, the lights stop, and it is safe
Stop when the lights flash and before the gate lowers, and remain stopped until the gates rise and the lights stop flashing. Then proceed only when it is safe.

5. At a passive railroad crossing with no signals or gates, who is responsible for deciding when it is safe to cross?
Correct answer: The driver alone
A passive crossing has no traffic control device, so the choice to stop or go rests with you. You must recognize the crossing, look for a train, and judge whether there is room to get across.

6. At a crossing with more than one track, what danger should you watch for?
Correct answer: One train can hide another on a second track
A train on one track can hide a second train on another track, so look both ways and make sure all tracks are clear before you cross, even after one train has passed.

7. As you drive through an intersection, which road users must you let go ahead of you?
Correct answer: Pedestrians and traffic already in the intersection
Slow down and give way to any pedestrians and to traffic that is already within the intersection, and avoid switching lanes while you are crossing it.

8. If you must swing into the oncoming lane to finish a turn in a large vehicle, how should you treat approaching traffic?
Correct answer: Leave them room to pass or stop, and do not back up
Watch for vehicles heading toward you and leave them room to pass or to stop. Do not reverse for them, because you could strike something or someone behind you.
